Identify the component and its joint position
State the joint or actuator reference and which gear, ring, shaft or carrier is being sourced. Include the assembly revision and relevant mating parts. Specify the mounting and mating dimensions needed for your robot joint so we can assess the exact part required.
Describe the motion profile
Describe acceleration, direction changes, dwell time and cycle frequency for the joint or mechanism. Include the specified load and mating interfaces so the supplier can assess the gear requirements for your application.
Keep the planetary geometry connected
For a planetary stage, provide the sun, planet, ring and carrier references. State quantities per set, pin interfaces and locating datums. If matching, marking or paired measurements are required, make them part of the component package.
Define backlash at the right level
Backlash is not one universal value detached from the assembly. State where it is measured, the test condition and the acceptance method. Distinguish an individual tooth-thickness requirement from an assembled reducer or joint measurement. Bearings, mounting and other components affect the complete result.
Specify finishing and inspection records
Include final tooth accuracy, profile or lead requirements where applicable, runout and mounting-interface tolerances. State which tooth and dimensional reports are needed. Material condition and treatment zones must remain connected to the final measurement state.
Set a clear prototype objective
Explain whether the trial is intended to validate fit, movement, a revised component or a supplier transfer. Define the drawing revision and first-part acceptance before manufacture. Once that definition is stable, repeat-production quantities and release requirements can be discussed on a consistent basis.
Quick review checklist
| Review item | What to define |
|---|---|
| Assembly identity | Joint or actuator, stage and drawing revision |
| Motion | Acceleration, reversal, dwell and designed load context |
| Components | Sun, planets, ring, carrier or shaft supply scope |
| Acceptance | Tooth, interface and separately defined assembly checks |
| Project stage | Prototype objective and repeat-production plan |
