PROCESS OVERVIEW

How this process is used

Gear cutting establishes the tooth system that must mesh with the mating component. The appropriate process depends on whether the teeth are external or internal, the available tool clearance and the part’s material condition at the cutting stage.

Hobbing generates applicable external gear teeth through coordinated tool and workpiece rotation. Power skiving uses synchronized cutting with crossed axes and can be relevant to internal or external gear geometry. These are process choices, not interchangeable labels for every part.

01

External gears

Spur and helical teeth with accessible blank geometry.

02

Internal gears

Ring and internal-tooth components with a suitable tool-access plan.

03

Integrated components

Tooth production must preserve the shaft or mounting datum relationship.

PRODUCTION & MEASUREMENT RESOURCES

Production and inspection equipment

YK8132 power skiving machine

Power skiving equipment for suitable internal and external gear teeth.

CNC machining resources

Blank and mounting-interface preparation before tooth generation.

ROUTE PLANNING

Four decisions before production

Establish tooth data

Check tooth count, module, pressure angle, helix data and drawing revision.

Review tool access

Consider shoulders, internal clearance, face width and workholding.

Plan the production state

Connect material condition and treatment to cutting and finishing allowance.

Define measurement

Agree tooth and datum checks before the route is released.
