Distinguish the fluid mechanism from its drive.

Pump and compressor drives can expose gears to continuous duty, changing load, vibration and lubrication constraints. The RFQ should explain whether the gear is part of the pump mechanism, a timing set or an external transmission stage.

A timing gear pair, an auxiliary drive and a gear that works within a pumping mechanism have different acceptance needs. Explain the component function before applying a generic gearbox specification.
